Security & Fraud Prevention Group

Security & Fraud Prevention Group

The main objectives of the Security and Fraud Prevention Group:

  • To deal with operational security issues in critical communications systems that are not in the scope of open standards;
  • To limit threats and vulnerabilities in current and future critical communications systems;
  • To ensure that standards based security solutions can be implemented in the context of national solutions;
  • To initiate work items for standardisation to improve security in critical communications systems;
  • To ensure that fraud and security do not act as barriers to critical communications projects.

One of the main tasks of the group is to monitor for cases of fraud and threats for all types of operational critical communications systems. From this the group will produce Recommendations for security and fraud prevention and will propose work items for standardisation.

The SFPG unifies all parties within the critical communications community, e.g. manufacturers, government bodies, operators and users. On the basis of trust, they work together on issues of common interest in the field of security and fraud prevention. This broad participation shows the special character of the group; it ensures a wide range of expertise, available on all issues to be addressed.

In case the SFPG needs special support from a company, not being an SFPG member, then the company may be requested to bring in their expertise on an incidental basis.

Depending on the level of confidentiality, the documents produced by the SFPG will be published in the SFPG room of the TCCA member site. In the case of Recommendations, most will only be distributed via a protected file after receipt of a signed non-disclosure agreement.
