Xiamen Port in China selects Sepura
30th April 2008 – The Port of Xiamen is one of Sepura’s latest contract wins in China. Xiamen is among the fastest-growing ports in the world and has become the sixth largest in China. It is the 22nd busiest seaport in the world. The port provides facilities for most types of passenger and cargo shipping, including the latest mega container vessels.
Sepura SRM3500 Mobile vehicle-based radios will be supplied by Beijing Sonicom System Network, one of Sepura’s distribution partners in China, to provide secure, clear and instant communications.
The powerful SRM3500 operates at 10 watts, and this ensures the best possible coverage in such a challenging environment. Typically, the container-terminal facility has areas of potentially poor reception with its metal structures – cranes, containers, and ships.
Jiang Qingsheng, General Manager, Beijing Sonicom System Network, said: “The radios will bring improved communications, to enable the port to operate even more efficiently. Instant communication will save valuable time, and will give absolute security without risk of eavesdropping.”
Kevin Graham, Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, said: “Factors that determined this contract win were our previous experience in supplying to ports across Asia, the outstanding capability of our radios and our first-class Customer Support.”
