Würzburg rides with Hytera

Würzburger Straßenbahn GmbH is well-positioned for the future with IP-based TETRA radio technology from Bad Münder and Switzerland.

The essence of teamwork! The collaboration between the application partner Trapeze from Switzerland and Würzburger Straßenbahn GmbH has made the existing radio infrastructure of the public transport system in Würzburg well-prepared for the future. In addition to voice communication (radio), the new system is also responsible for the data communication of streetcars and buses.

A smooth project

Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH was the system supplier for the five new DIB-R5 compact base stations. A redundantly designed IPN that provides the software-based routing function centrally in the radio system has created a fail-safe network in Würzburg. The IPN redundancy also works to protect the voice recorder operated within the IP Node equipment rack from failures as well.

Application partner Trapeze took over the set-up of the Intermodal Transport Control System (ICTS) over the ACAPI interface provided by Hytera. The ICTS system is responsible for all communication between the control room, trains and buses and therefore the lifeline of all state-of-the-art transport companies.
