World leading train manufacturer selects Sepura

Sepura TETRA digital radios have been chosen by one of the world’s leading train manufacturers, Canadian firm Bombardier Transportation, for use at its factory in the north of France.

SYSOCO, Sepura’s partner in France, secured the order earlier in the year for SRH3500 handheld radios to meet new requirements for communications in security and fire services, and to assist industrial production processes.

Bombardier is currently progressing one of the largest orders in French rail history for $3.4 billion to build 372 trains for the Paris commuter line. These futuristic trains with extra-wide carriages will increase the ease and speed of passenger movement.

The factory at Crespin in northern France employs 1600 people and such a large manufacturing plant requires security and fire operations of the highest order to react quickly to any emergency.

Robust and easy to use, the radios give uninterrupted and secure communication. Data, vibration and hands-free functions provide instant messaging for those on the move or wearing ear protection. There’s also the capability to operate defined Talk Groups for individual teams to communicate in unison.

Pierre Letta, Marketing Director for SYSOCO, said: “This project brings the very best digital radio communications to a company that is also at the forefront of innovation. Our customer chose Sepura for its ability to provide radios that provide unparalleled support and warranty conditions and extremely favourable delivery terms. In addition, the radios are already used and tested by numerous TETRA users worldwide.”

Richard Redgrave, Regional Sales Director for Sepura added: “Successes like this are possible thanks to the co-operation and competence of partners like SYSOCO. In this instance SYSOCO developed a system that suits a large manufacturing site where stringent security and safety systems are critical and the radios are invaluable in communications for its production teams.”
