Tony Gray to retire next year – TCCA will be looking for a new CEO to be in place by June 2021

Our Chief Executive Tony Gray will be retiring next year, and we are beginning the search to find a new leader for TCCA.

TCCA is a unique Association where many diverse organisations collaborate across the critical communications ecosystem, with government bodies, mobile operators, manufacturers, solution providers, end users and more actively participating. TCCA is a Market Representation Partner of 3GPP, reflecting the needs of the global critical communications sector, and works with ETSI to maintain and enhance the TETRA standard.

The sector is in an evolution mode where TETRA is the leading narrowband solution and this is expected to continue for a number of years. However, broadband solutions are also required. Several countries are already working hard to either augment TETRA or other narrowband PMR/LMR technologies with broadband, or to over time replace these with 3GPP standards-based broadband solutions once products are available.

The CEO manages this complex environment of member interests as well as the business of the Association, taking care of the financial resources, personnel and contract staff on a day to day basis. He/she brings policies, plans and recommendations to the Board, and is responsible for executing the strategy that the Board agrees.

In the execution of the strategy he/she will oversee the work of the various volunteer Working Groups set up in support of the strategy providing guidance where necessary and attending at least one meeting of each Working Group annually.

He/she will interface with organisations such as 3GPP, ETSI, GCF and other industry associations where this assists the strategy, and with the members to ensure that the Association is meeting their needs. In implementing the Board’s strategy and supporting a global membership, the CEO is usually required to travel regularly, although COVID-19 currently restricts this. We foresee a contract of 5+5 years.

The deadline for applications is 17th January 2021.  Shortlisted candidates will be informed in mid-February 2021, with interviews held from 1 March 2021.

We invite all who either themselves might have an interest or want to recommend someone to be considered to send an email to the vice-chair of the Board – Jeppe.Jepsen@TCCA.INFO. All contacts will be treated confidentially.
