The MD625 mobile radio – the latest addition to the Hytera DMR portfolio
The MD625 from Hytera is a new user-friendly entry-level mobile radio and is available now. Not only does it offer high performance and versatility, but it is also designed with convenience in mind.
The MD625 is also the ideal device to facilitate a smooth and simple transition from analog to digital radio. Thanks to the A&D Auto Detect feature, the new vehicle radio can distinguish between incoming analog and digital signals and automatically reacts in the correct mode. This makes it the perfect partner for mixed fleets, as you might find in logistics or transportation companies.
The new Hytera MD625
The robust and compact MD625 Tier II DMR is the latest addition to Hytera’s fleet of DMR devices and, alongside the Hytera MD615, it slots in neatly below the existing mid-range and high-end radios of the MD655 and the MD785. The MD625 features a 1.5 inch LCD screen that displays incoming text messages as well as the names of channels, zones and calls. An optional external module can be fitted to the vehicle radio for GPS functionality, or can even be retrofitted for ultra-flexibility. How the MD625 is installed in the vehicle is also flexible, since the control head can be separated from the unit via a cable, if preferred.
The MD625 also boasts exceptional audio quality and a long range and even supports Hytera’s pseudo trunking technology. All this means increased radio capacity without additional costs or frequency
licenses. “The entry-level MD625 perfectly complements our portfolio of DMR vehicle devices. Thanks to the two new vehicle radios, the MD625 and MD615, we are now perfectly equipped to fulfill every possible customer requirement in this sector,” says Frank Pauer, Deputy CSO of Hytera Mobilfunk GmbH, with confidence.
MD625: Technical features
The MD625 transmits up to 45 Watts (UHF) or 50 Watts (VHF). The frequency range for UHF is between 400 and 470 MHz, and between 136 and 174 MHz for VHF. The radio weighs 1100 grams and measures 164 x 43 x 150 millimeters. It is dust resistant and water resistant to IP54 standard and its durability has been rigorously tested and certified in accordance with MIL-STD-810 G.
On the front of the MD625, there is an emergency call button, a built-in speaker at 4–6 Watts, an audio/programming port, and volume and channel controls. The Bluetooth functionality is also integrated into the front panel or can alternatively be built into the control head at the factory. This means the radio can be used in conjunction with various audio components, such as the POA121 Bluetooth Ring PTT and the ESW01 Bluetooth headset, for increased safety while driving.
On the rear of the device is the HF antenna connection, the DC power supply, the DB26 accessory port and a GPS plug socket for the external GPS module. The GPS function makes it easier to locate vehicles on the map in real time.
Accessories and features
The front of the MD625 features a 1.5 inch LCD screen and two buttons that can be programmed as required. 256 channels and 16 zones can be configured on the device. For the MD625/MD615 models, Hytera also provides the option of separating the control head using a slim 8-pin cable.
Customers who already have front-attaching accessories for their MD655 and MD785 radios will not be able to use these on the new MD625 models. The new connection does, however, support the SM11A1 palm microphone and the PC109 programming cable.
The rear DB26 connection can be used to attach virtually the same accessory components as used on the MD655/MD785; these include the SM09D1 external speaker, the POA44 PTT foot switch and the PC60 ignition cable.
Customers can also make use of Hytera’s radio registration service (RRS), enabling them to upload the online information to a DMR Tier II system by connecting to a Hytera dispatch console. This means dispatchers can check the status of individual radios (on/off or inside/outside the frequency range), making it easier to manage fleets.
Additional benefits: Compatible with DTMF and HDC1200 signaling (available soon) in analog mode; basic end-to-end speech/data encryption.
Other optional extras are also available: Roaming function for use in large networks covering multiple locations, radio activation/deactivation, remote monitoring and priority interrupt.
The MD625 radio is available now.
