The largest TETRA rail network

On track for TETRATeaming in a consortium with ALSTOM, EADS Secure Networks has signed a contract with Brazilian railway operator MRS Logística S.A. to provide the radio communications element of their SIACO project (Integrated System for Automation and Operation Control). Delivery is expected to begin in the second half of 2006 for what will be the world’s largest TETRA rail network.

MRS Logística S.A. established the SIACO project to replace its current signalling and communications system. The company has 1,674 km of railways in a region that concentrates approximately 65% of Brazil’s gross domestic product and is home to the largest industries in the country.

It was a great team effort! Dr. Julio Fontana Neto, President of MRS Logística S.A. said, “A critical success factor is the SIACO project, which will provide a sound technological basis for our operations. We believe that it will be the new applications and improved communications that can reliably support such growth”.
