Hazardous Environment

Manufacturers have been aware for some time of a demand for Intrinsically Safe TETRA products. Readers of TETRA News (Edition 2/2002) will know that Niros A/S has recently announced production plans for its new Intrinsically Safe product. It is believed that other manufacturers are developing products for this market sector and announcements are expected later this year.

In order to enhance understanding of the need for Intrinsically Safe products and their application the MoU invited Niros A/S to prepare a descriptive paper on the subject. The MoU is grateful to Niros for producing this paper. IntrinsicSafety.pdf

The paper addresses the European Standards for Intrinsic Safety but many parts of the world also recognise and accept Factory Mutual approval and further details of these Standard can be found at the website of Factory Mutual Research.
