Teltronic will supply a TETRA system and several call dispatching centres to the Secretary of Public Safety of the northeastern brazilian State of Bahia. The system consists of 22 base stations, 1 switch, 1 Wi-Max backbone, 1 main dispatching centre for 60 operators, 7 local dispatching centres for 6 operators, and a total of 4000 terminals, including handsets, mobiles and radio dispatchers. A digital switch will bring automatic group calls between the TETRA system and both the old existing analogue MPT-1327 and conventional networks.
The Military, Civil and Scientific Polices and the Fire Brigades will share the system in the big area formed by the 3-million people capital city of Salvador, the city of Feira de Santana and the BR-30 highway between them. The general headquarters of the Secretary of Public Safety will operate and manage the network with the purpose of offering powerful, advanced voice and data communication services to the aforementioned users. Dispatching centres will offer VoIP communications, IP line connection to the TETRA NEBULA infrastructure, voice and data recording, GIS-based vehicle and handset location, event handling, statistics generation and call transfer to the existing telephone call centres.
