TELTRONIC supplies TETRA system for Lima Electric Train
July 12th, 2010 – The Lima Electric Train Consortium, made up by the companies Odebrecht (67%) and Graa y Montero (33%) has recently entrusted TELTRONIC with the supply of the radio communications system for this mega-project due to the quality of its proposal and the company’s vast experience with similar projects
The Lima Electric Train is a large-scale project promoted by the current Peruvian government to improve the flow of traffic in this capital city of 8 million inhabitants. The Electric Train, which is due to start comercial operations in July 2011, will complete Line 1 of the Lima Metro, connecting Villa El Salvador in the south of the city with Central Lima, passing through a number of important districts. Towards the end of 2009, the Ministry of Transport and Communications awarded the construction contract to the Lima Electric Train Consortium, composed of the Brazilian company, Odebrecht and Peru’s Graa y Montero.
TELTRONIC has had a significant presence in Peru for several years having provided analogue and digital equipment to customers in Lima and Trujillo. TELTRONIC is now entering a new stage in its business development in the country by supplying the TETRA system for the Electric Train. This first stage is made up of 5 sites and a number of terminals, including MDT-400 mobiles for the trains and HTT-500 hand-portables for employees. A digital recording system is one of the special applications which will be developed.
TELTRONIC is the clear leader among TETRA manufacturers in Latin America and the transport sector, bringing together both strengths in this particular case of Lima Electric Train. TELTRONIC has considerable experience of executing similar projects in Latin America and the rest of the world. The company has implemented multiple radio communications systems based on TETRA technology for mass-transit in Brazil, Colombia, Mexico and Chile, as well as Spain, Algeria and other European and Asian markets.
