Team Simoco Appoints New Managing Director to Support Continued Rapid Growth and Global Expansion
Ian Carr heads up radio communications specialist as part of Team Telecom Group succession strategy
17 September, 2008– Ian Carr has been appointed as managing director at radio communications specialist Team Simoco, to support the company’s continued rapid growth and international expansion.
The appointment follows previous managing director Mike Norfield’s promotion to head up Team Telecom Group, the parent company of Team Simoco, with both appointments representing a key element of the group’s succession planning and expansion strategy.
Carr joins Team Simoco with 28 years industry experience, having worked at BT and Cable & Wireless, and most recently at Greenwoods Communications, where he held the position of Group Business Director, driving the commercial, manufacturing and operational performance of the group.
His industry expertise, market knowledge and experience of working with blue chip clients will support Team Simoco’s continued expansion and strengthen its position in new and existing industry sectors including public sector, utility and transport, following recent successes at Western Power Distribution, Transport for London and Heathrow Airport.
Carr will be also be building on the company’s international credentials and product portfolio to help ensure a truly global reach. In-region representation in the Americas and Asia has realised beachhead sales in the US, Panama, China and South East Asia; whilst in product markets, the recent acquisition of mobile data information business Infomatrix has accelerated TETRA market penetration, creating a balanced digital and analogue portfolio.
According to Ian: “Team Simoco is entering a significant growth phase, so it’s a very exciting time for me to be joining the company. We have market leading products, a strong brand and an impressive client base, so the foundations are set. We have a range of strategic technology and market development options available. The key challenge is to direct resources to maximise growth and competitive advantage.
“So with the foundations firmly in place, the coming year is about execution – driving home the gains and delivering tangible benefits to customers and stakeholders. Central to growth is the partner programme, because day-in day-out, it’s our partners who take our products and brand to market. As we extend our global coverage we intend to broaden and deepen our global partner network and re-align our channel support programme to ensure partners have the sales and technical support they need anywhere in the world.”
Carr’s experience of performance improvement and change management at Greenwoods Communications will play a pivotal role in ensuring Team Simoco continues to grow into new market sectors and global territories, leveraging the company’s technical expertise, its high levels of service and its truly global reach.
