Sepura Wins Major Order with Argentine Police Force
Mendoza Police have announced they will use Sepura SRH3500 TETRA hand-held radios and SRM3500 mobiles to improve communications and resource mobilisation across the force. The contract was won in conjunction with Intema, Sepura’s valued partner in Argentina.
The win represents Sepura’s first major contract with an Argentine civil police force. Mendoza, one of 23 provinces in Argentina, has recently invested in a new TETRA communications infrastructure and deployment of the first phase will be completed by the end of 2006.
Sepura’s radio terminals will be used to improve communications between police officers. They will also enable staff at central control stations to match resources to demand and co-ordinate responses across the territory. Officers in the field will appreciate the rugged deign and light weight of the Sepura terminals. The SRH3500 hand-held terminals will incorporate the ultra-sensitive sGPS™ receiver which can transmit positioning data back to base even in dense urban locations.
“Versatile, robust and designed for the harshest of public safety environments, Sepura TETRA radios provided the ideal solution for Mendoza Police,” says David Chapiro President of Intema. “We are aware that other countries in South America are monitoring progress of this initiative, and we believe this will lead to greater take-up of TETRA technologies in South American countries for the future.”
Tim Mills, Regional Director for Sepura commented: “This contract is highly significant on two counts; it is the largest TETRA project in Argentina, and Mendoza Police is the first Police Force in South America to have selected TETRA. Effective policing today requires advanced communications, and with TETRA set to replace aging and obsolete analogue systems throughout South America, Sepura has grown its presence and focus on the region over the last two years. This win reinforces further Sepura’s commitment and effort towards this region.”
