Sepura and Selectric win fifth contract for the supply of TETRA radios to Germany
3rd June 2009
Sepura announces today that it will supply digital radios to the German state of Baden Wrttemberg. This is another prestigious German contract win arising from the successful co-operation with Selectric GmbH.
Baden Wrttemberg is the fifth German state – of the six gone to tender for the provision of digital terminals within the BOSNet framework – to select Sepura radios for its secure communications needs.
The contract is for the supply of over 18,000 digital radios to the Police Force in Baden Wrttemberg – the first radio users will be operational in September this year. The estimated total requirement of TETRA radios for all Public Safety users in the federal state as a whole amounts to 60,000 terminals.
Baden Wrttemberg is the third largest German state in terms of size and population – Stuttgart, its capital, is a thriving hub and a renowned university city. Baden Wrttemberg is also home to one of the most acclaimed car manufacturers in the world.
The TETRA network’s rollout is progressing rapidly in Stuttgart and in the area surrounding Stuttgart’s airport, plus the municipality of Tbingen – where availability of full coverage is expected this summer.
Hendrik Pieper, General Manager of Selectric, commented: “Sepura has delivered products that fully satisfy the specific needs of German public safety users. Sepura radios not only meet the highly technical requirements of the Baden Wrttemberg Police, but are also exceptionally user-friendly – which is paramount for all public safety operatives”.
Mr Pieper added: “Sepura’s SRG3500 vehicle radio is ideal for a vast territory like the state of Baden Wrttemberg as its gateway functionality acts as a relay point between the trunked network and radios operating in Direct Mode extending the TETRA network into areas of limited coverage”.
Kasper Barfoed, Regional Sales Director for Sepura said: “This success strengthens our market leadership in Germany and further cements the unique and exemplary partnership we have established with Selectric”.
Hendrik Pieper concluded: “Since the start of our partnership with Sepura we believed that Sepura’s range of radios would be well received throughout Germany. The decision made to date by five federal states reinforces our conviction”.
