Qualcomm targets critical communications in 5G sidelink push

17 March 2026 – From UrgentComm at IWCE Las Vegas—Typically driven by the consumer marketplace, chipmaker Qualcomm yesterday announced that it is prioritizing the critical-communications sector in its efforts to implement sidelink—the direct-mode technology in 5G—with the help of regulatory and standards bodies.
