MPN (Mobil Producing Nigeria) TETRA Upgrade Project

Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPN), an ExxonMobil subsidiary, is operator of its joint venture with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). The Company was desirous to install a new TETRA IP Infrastructure to modernize the existing DIMETRA-P Infrastructure, providing several add on services next to the voice service. The design had to be a future proof solution to optimize the TETRA infrastructure network to take advantage of the latest IP version features and capabilities in accordance to Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN) service requirements.

MPN selected Rohill’s TetraNode. TetraNode delivers fully redundant soft-switch critical communications technology based on standard IP protocols. Twelve sites with redundant IP interfaces have been installed to provide communications for on- and offshore operations. The system is supplied with a geo-redundant switching infrastructure.

The migration from DIMETRA-P to TetraNode went successfully and the responses are positive: call setups are faster, improvement of audio quality and no more dead spots in coverage.

The implementation of TetraNode was completed early 2014.
