Motorola Successfully Implements Vietnam’s First TETRA Digital Trunked Radio System for the Ministry of Public Security in Ho Chi Minh City

New digital trunked radio system puts the Ministry of Public Security at forefront of digital Mission Critical communications.

HO CHI MINH, Vietnam, March 3, 2006 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) today announced that the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam (VMOPS) has successfully completed its first-phase deployment of Motorola’s TETRA-based digital trunked radio system. This system serves the secure Mission Critical communication needs of the police force in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam’s most populated city. This deployment marks Vietnam’s first TErrestrial Trunked RAdio (TETRA) system in operation.

In addition to reliable and secure voice communications, this system also provides data capabilities that allow VMOPS to develop value-added applications to support its mission-critical operations. This initial installation includes a network of two base locations and five dispatch consoles that supports 500 mobile and portable radios.
