Middle East and Africa set for double digit growth in TETRA market
Critical Communications Middle East event showcases regional innovation
09 September 2014: The Middle East and Africa region is set to see double digit growth in the TETRA market over the next five years. The second annual Critical Communications Middle East event taking place in Dubai next week will showcase some of the major players in this market, and is expecting a significant increase in attendee numbers over the 2013 inaugural event.
“This is a vibrant market with no fear of innovation,” said TCCA CEO Phil Kidner. “There are more than half a million TETRA users in this region* and there is significant progress in trials to assess the suitability of LTE.”
“With that number set to increase, this is further demonstration that TETRA remains the foundation to build upon, both for new and for existing critical communications users.”
Thomas Lynch, associate director, critical communications group for global research company IHS, said: “The Industrial, Transportation and Utilities TETRA segments are all projected to experience double digit growth over the next five years, building on more than 70,000 shipments of TETRA devices in the Middle East and Africa in 2013.
“There are already a number of projects to trial and utilise LTE in the region – not just in public safety but also in oil and gas and transportation.”
