Madrid Airport prefers Sepura radios
The Airport of Madrid Barajas has chosen Sepura TETRA radios for the airport’s TETRA standard-based digital communication system. The prestigious deal was made possible by Telvent, the Global RealTime IT Company, Sepura’s world-wide partner and distributor.
Sepura’s radio terminals are part of a contract, worth approximately one million euros, signed by Telvent with Aeropuertos Espaoles y Navegacin Area (AENA), Spain’s airport operator.
Madrid Barajas Airport’s personnel will be supplied with over 600 Sepura’s hand-held radios and 95 mobile terminals. The TETRA system will allow communications with all ground staff and vehicles circulating within the airport’s perimeter. This, in turn, will allow management to increase the efficiency of the airport’s daily operations and enable better coordination of emergency situations when they arise.
“We are pleased to continue working closely with AENA on the technological upgrading of Spain’s airports. With the implementation of this project, Madrid airport will possess one of the most technologically advanced communication systems available,” stated Telvent’s Victor Martinez.
Emanuele Algieri, Regional Sales Director for Sepura commented: “Madrid Barajas joins Sepura’s growing list of Spanish and international airport customers including Seville, Granada, Ibiza, Hannover, Birmingham, Roissy- CDG and Orly. Communications in airport environments need to be efficient, secure and reliable. Sepura technology empowers airport personnel with mission-critical information that enables them to ensure the safe and efficient running of operations”.
