International utility selects Sepura
18th March 2009– ENDESA, the leading utility in the Spanish energy system, has chosen Sepura gateway radios for its telemetry requirements under a contract secured by Dtetra, Sepura’s distributor in Spain.
ENDESA is the major electricity company in Latin America. It is a significant player in the energy sector in the European Mediterranean region, especially Italy, and is active in other countries in Europe. ENDESA also has a growing presence in the Spanish natural gas market and is advancing rapidly in the area of renewable energy.
Sepura’s SRG3500 gateway radio will operate on ENDESA’s recently deployed TETRA network and will be used for data telemetry. Utility operatives from several power stations will use the mobile gateways in their daily activities for the transmission of data to the control centres in Madrid and Barcelona.
Gateway functionality in the SRG3500 radios acts as a relay point for radios operating in direct mode, and thanks to its full 10 Watts of transmitting power, greatly extends the trunked network into areas of otherwise limited coverage.
Ricardo Valles, Sales Manager from Dtetra said: “ENDESA chose Sepura’s gateway because of its outstanding output power, considerably higher than that of other TETRA radio manufacturers’ products. In addition to this, the radio’s reliability and its two PEI ports for special applications fully meet the requirements of the Spanish electricity company”.
Vitor Rodrigues, Senior Business Development Manager for Sepura, commented “Once again Sepura terminals have completely met customer expectations. In addition, the ENDESA contract win complements Sepura’s recent successes in the utilities sector in Europe, Latin America and the Middle East”.
