EADS Defence & Security to build TETRA network for Shenyang Metro Line 2 in North East China

11th May 2010 – EADS Defence & Security has been selected to deliver digital TETRA radio communication coverage for Line 2 of the Shenyang Metro. This contract follows the successful delivery of an EADS TETRA system for Line 1 of this metro.

As the system supplier, EADS Defence & Security will provide to Shenyang Metro Co., Ltd. 20 additional TB3 TETRA base stations and five dispatcher stations, fully integrated into the existing TETRA system. In addition, 430 TETRA radios will be delivered. EADS Defence & Security will install the equipment and provide training and technical support services. At the same time, it will join forces with the system integrator, Shenyang Neusoft Co., Ltd., to develop data applications that use the TETRA system and meet the special needs of metro operations.

The TETRA radio communication system will support train dispatching, operation and management, thus helping to ensure personnel safety for Shenyang Metro. Deliveries will begin at the 3rd quarter of 2010. Extension is planned to be taken into service at the end of 2011.

Shenyang Metro is a key project in the eleventh five-year plan of the Liaoning province, and it is to become the first metro in the province and in Northeast China. Its Line 1, Line 1 extension and Line 2 are under construction, and Line 1 & Line 1 extension are planned to be completed and open to the public on the National Day of 2010.
