- Major technological change from analogue to digital
- Modernization of Emergency and Security Communications will improve safety for all
- A 10-year contract epitomizes confidence in EADS Defence & Security solutions and dedication
20 February 2008 – EADS Secure Networks, an integrated line of Business of EADS Defence & Security (DS), will provide the TETRA infrastructure and the support to the operation start-up and will ensure the maintenance of the Network of Digital Mobile Communications for Emergency and Security in the Autonomous Community of Valencia, in Spain.
The contract was awarded by the Department of Justice and Public Administration of the Valencia Autonomous Community Government to a consortium lead by Abertis Telecom together with two financial partners Aguas de Valencia and Banco de Valencia. Abertis Telecom, TETRA network operator leader in Spain, has the whole responsibility to construct and deploy the network and has to maintain and operate it for 10 years with a very demanding Service Level Agreement.
This network, better known by its COMDES acronym (COMunicaciones De Emergencia y Seguridad), will be dimensioned to support up to 15,000 users from various organisations such as the Civil Protection, Autonomous and Local Police, Health Urgency, Fire Brigades, Forest guards, Control and Management of Public Resources and any Emergency, Security and Rescue Services.
It represents a major technological leap, from various and independent small analogue-based networks towards a very modern “horizontal” digital communication system. This change will accelerate modernization of the emergency and security communications which will ultimately improve safety for all in the Autonomous Community of Valencia.
This 10-year contract from a very demanding public actor incarnates recognition of EADS Secure Networks expertise and valuable solutions for this range of networks. The Autonomous Community of Valencia is indeed a very powerful economy and a rather large portion of the Spanish territory.
“This is a great honour and a real pleasure for our company to support our partner Abertis Telecom in delivering the Autonomous Community of Valencia with the most suited, modern and flexible solution for its emergency and security services” said Jean-Marc Nasr, President of EADS Secure Networks.
