BMW on the road with Sepura
BMW AG chooses Sepura TETRA radios for its Test Tracks sites in Germany, Sweden and France. The radios are part of a complete digital mobile communication solution being provided by 3T Communications AG – wholly owned by Frequentis AG – to the world-leading German car manufacturer. The installation of the TETRA communications system will be completed in November 2005.
The test tracks replicate a diverse range of road conditions and are used to test different features of cars and motorbikes with the aim of improving quality, performance and safety. One of the fundamental requirements of BMW was to be able to accurately track vehicles by identifying their exact position at very short time intervals. A vehicle under test can reach speeds as high as 300km/h and test engineers often need to be able to locate up to 100 vehicles within 5.1 seconds.
Sepura will supply TETRA hand-held radios with its fully-integrated and ultra-sensitive award winning sGPSTM device to meet this requirement.
Roger Dowling, Deputy Managing Director for Sepura commented “We are proud to be associated with the prestigious BMW brand. This is another endorsement of our sGPSTM device which has been proven in independent tests to be the best TETRA GPS unit in the world”.
