Airbus moves on to get German credentials for devices
Company targets BDBOS certification for the Tactilon Dabat and other handhelds to meet the highest standards for German public safety markets
Elancourt/Ulm, 26 November 2018 – Airbus takes the next step to position its terminals in the German public safety market. The company will soon enroll the Tactilon Dabat, a 2-in-1 Smartphone-Tetra device, and the Tetra radios Th1n and TH9 for BDBOS (the German Federal Agency for Public Safety Digital Radio) certification.
“BDBOS runs the world’s largest Tetra network, so it is a must to offer a unique device such as our Tactilon Dabat to the German market. Once Airbus has attained that certification, we can quite rightly say that the Dabat, Th1n and TH9 meet the highest operational standards,” says Catalin Gheorghiu, Product Business Manager for Secure Land Communications at Airbus.
The interoperability function and safety requirements of BDBOS are mandatory for selling and distributing Tetra radios and hybrid devices to users of public safety organisations in Germany. According to German law, all Tetra and hybrid devices have to comply with certain interoperability profiles. BDBOS does not conduct the technical tests itself, but relies on the judgement of competent, certified testing bodies. They conduct interoperability tests of such equipment directly on the request of manufacturers or suppliers.
